Five Seasons Pilates Instructors
Gregory Gorrindo had the good fortune of having his first Pilates lesson at the age of twelve. His talent and interest for the work was fostered by his mother, Five Seasons Pilates founder Jean Gibson-Gorrindo, and he began apprenticing under her in 2008. He is a graduate of the Balanced Body® Comprehensive Pilates Instructor training program under Paula Anderson of Pilates Power Center in Arroyo Grande, CA. In 2013 he became a certified Balanced Body Barre™ instructor . In the Fall of 2015 he assumed ownership of Five Seasons Pilates after Jean's retirement. He intends to continue her legacy of excellence as Pilates instructor and as a small business owner. Gregory is also a prolific local actor and singer, and has been seen on many Central Coast stages performing in theatre productions, concerts, and recitals.
Dale McVay worked for over 11 years as the Corporate Wellness Program Director for the city of San Luis Obispo, and previously owned her own Pilates studio in Paso Robles in addition to working for other studios on the Central Coast. Dale joined the Five Seasons Pilates team in 2010. She received her comprehensive training for Pilates matwork and apparatus from Balanced Body, training under Tom McCook of Center of Balance in Mountain View, CA. Because of her extensive background as a competitive athlete in triathlons and swimming, her classes and private sessions have a strong emphasis on anatomy, structural integrity, and functional movement. Much of her work revolves around the rehabilitating of athletic injuries as well as working with hip and knee replacements. Dale is also a Certified California Massage Practitioner, and having trained at the Eslaen Institute in the Longstroke Technique, has received her DeepBodyWork Certification. Her current interest is FoundationTraining.
Lisa Shinn’s passion for Foundation Training came from her discovery of FT and it’s ability to reduce her back pain and Stenosis in her left leg. Thanks to Foundation Training, she is riding her horse again, and she is excited to now be teaching FT to others who want to decompress their spines and move better. She taught middle school science for 33 years, was a ballerina for 40, an equestrian for 47, and a sustainable garden coach for 20. She loves being in the saddle on her horse Cole, creating gardens, and Ballet (only in the kitchen.)
Jean Gibson-Gorrindo is a PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher, and taught Pilates for over fifteen years. She received her initial mat training and certification from PhysicalMind Institute under Maria Leone and her comprehensive training and certification from Sherri Betz, PT, through Polestar Pilates Education, with an emphasis on Pilates for post rehabilitation. She also has over two decades of experience teaching in the fitness industry, having worked as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor prior to her introduction to the Pilates method. Throughout her Pilates career she has continued her education by consistently attending conventions and workshops, learning from and working with many internationally acclaimed instructors. In 2013, she became a certified Balanced Body Barre™ instructor, adding yet another feather to her Pilates cap. She retired from teaching Pilates in 2015, but is still a regular presence at the studio, now as a client!
Leslie Otto was first introduced to mind/body practices while living in Asheville, NC. She began supplementing her outdoor activities of biking and hiking with Pilates and Yoga to cross-train and help find more balance in her life. Leslie completed her comprehensive Pilates and the Gyrotonic Method trainings in 2008 and began sharing her love of movement and fascination for how the body works. In 2013 she discovered the Melt Method – a cutting edge treatment for chronic pain and stress. Leslie also discovered the Franklin Method which brought the use of imagery and embodiment to her skills as a teacher. She was able to get herself out of back pain and shoulder issues with Pilates, Gyrotonic, Melt and the Franklin Method. Leslie continues to work towards being more than just an instructor of mind/body practices, but someone who really helps and inspires others to find freedom and joy in the movement of their bodies. She also owns, with her partner, a medicinal herb farm in Santa Margarita.
