Our History
Originally named Five Seasons Body Conditioning, the studio was created in 2002 in the bedroom of owner Jean Gibson-Gorrindo's home. Fueled by a strong desire to positively affect lives by helping the body to move with intelligence in harmony with the mind, Jean’s practice grew steadily over the years. But as a one woman practice, she could only reach a small, select group of people. She began to envision a bigger studio with more equipment, which would enable her to offer small group classes at affordable rates, thus making the Pilates work accessible to a larger demographic. In 2009 the studio expanded into the entire front half of the house and began offering classes in both matwork and apparatus in addition to private instruction. She began to seek out and encourage new instructors to join her. Her son, Greg, joined the studio as an apprentice instructor with the expansion, and since then she has been joined by her good friends Dale McVay, Kristina DellaGatta, and new apprentice instructor Tina Knott, each bringing their own special energy and talent. It was with the addition of Kristina that the studio first branched out it's offerings to other health and wellnes methods by offering Fascial Stretch Therapy sessions. In 2011, encouraged by the success of the studio and the need for an even bigger space, Jean decided to move out of the house and into a commercial space. With this move came a new name: Five Seasons Pilates. In 2012 Leslie Otto joined the studio family, adding GYROKINESIS® to our class offerings. In 2013 Julie Downey joined the team as a Pilates instructor and also began offering massage services through her business Advaced Body Therapy. And in celebration of our two years at our current location, we now offer Barre Fitness classes! We have always and continue to teach our equipment sessions on high quality equipment manufactured in Sacramento by Balanced Body.

Through the uniform development of the body, we create balance in the muscle groups for improved posture and coordination, efficiency of movement, a reduction in soreness, and injury prevention. In addition, we also work on balance between the mind and the body, achieving improved energy levels, stress reduction, relaxation and an overall feeling of well-being."
